Laing O’Rourke graduate awarded AIB Chapter Medal

11 Sep 2008

The Australian Institute of Building (NSW Chapter) has awarded Building Graduate Andrew Browne its Chapter Medal for the most outstanding graduate of each of its accredited programs.

First starting with Laing O’Rourke as a cadet in 2004, Andrew completed his degree on a part-time basis and continued to excel both academically and on the job.

Building Services Manager Roger Gibson said Andrew had been an absolute standout while working on the Chatswood Transport Interchange project.

“He’s a very adaptable, affable young man, who is keen to learn and understand all aspects of the industry,” Roger said.

“Since being on site he’s worked in the design department in a coordination role, spent quite some time in Building Services with ongoing design/site installation coordination, and is now working on the completion documentation for the Building Code of Australia and the Occupation Certificate.

“His willingness to tackle the issues at hand has earned him the respect of the entire team.”

The AIB’s Professional Excellence Awards are recognised as the premier event for acknowledging the highest standards of professional excellence in the built environment.

Winners of the State Awards will go forward to the National Award.
